To help doctors make more accurate diagnoses of intracranial diseases, Lailu Li's research team from China has designed an overhead collapsible head scaffold, Over-COM, which consists of a device fixed to the patient's head (housing, 8 linear actuators and 1IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit)), and a small box away from the patient (containing the microcontroller and battery pack).

Over-COMIt provides a lightweight, low-cost and easy-to-use solution for medical diagnostics that can be used by non-specialist operators to perform rapid medical diagnosis of head injuries, allowing patients to receive appropriate treatment more quickly and effectively reduce tissue damage.
