Amputation can cause life inconvenience and great pain for amputees, so optimization of prosthetic limbs has always been in the spotlight. A recent study on a new smart knee joint that allows prosthetics to better mimic the natural knee joint has given hope to amputees.

This prosthesis has a built-in IMU sensor that reduces the amount of muscle strength required by the amputee, improves comfort, and allows the amputee to perform a variety of daily movements at different speeds. This innovative design greatly improves mobility and quality of life for amputees and is also very cost effective compared to commercially available prosthetics, making it accessible to a wider range of amputees.
