Behavioral tests in mice are usually done before clinical trials. However, it is often time-consuming for researchers to observe and analyze their behaviors and responses. In response to this situation, and in conjunction with the current rapid development of IMUs, researchers in Hong Kong have conceptualized an inertial measurement unit (IMU)-based sensor for capturing experimental mouse movements. A new combined segmentation method consisting of fixed window segmentation, adaptive window segmentation and a preliminary state classifier for mouse behavior recognition was also proposed, which significantly improved the classification accuracy of lab rat behavior.
